Kinetic were appointed to carry out the mechanical and electrical detailed design and BREEAM assessment for a new teaching facility for Teesside University on their existing Darlington Campus. The building itself acts as a training base for companies within the Tees Valley area, providing key skills training for their workforces across facilities totalling 4000m2. Servicing of the building was achieved through an active chilled beam installation which provides heating, cooling, ventilation and internal lighting. Ancillary areas were also served by a gas fired radiator heating system and VRF air source heat pumps.
The building achieved a BREEAM 2008 “Very Good” rating and incorporates a number of sustainable features in the building, site and building services design.
